Why it is necessary to invest in coaching and how to make these expenses more efficient.

Nobody said that it is necessary. You may not do it. It is almost like any other investment - it is made in order to receive added value. With one exception, perhaps - a virtually guaranteed result with no risks.

Still, there is a second difference. The result is not comparable to the level of investment - for some it is 1000%, for others 10,000%, and for others even more. Do the numbers raise doubts? I understand. I could give you examples of studies of corporate coaching of senior executives (ICF Global Coaching Client Study, 2009) - 19% of companies noted a return on investment in coaching of 5,000%, 28% noted a return of 1,000 - 4,900%. More recent studies are even more intriguing.
In my experience, the amount of investment in coaching and the income the client subsequently receives are so different that it is somehow inconvenient to compare them as percentages. Especially in the case of Executive coaching (coaching high-level managers). One example is an increase in the company's net profit by 10% per quarter. I worked with the owner and director of the company. The company is based in Belgium. The company's quarterly profit is much more than USD 1,000,000. We worked for three hours. My services cost money, but they are incomparable with USD 100,000 + of direct results from the work. And this is only an immediate result, the solutions that the client found for himself during the sessions are relevant for a much longer period of time.
While the above case requires some special training / experience / knowledge of the coach, for regular coaching there is no need to look for "superstars". A well-trained coach will help an "ordinary" client set goals and support him in achieving them. It is normal to set goals, since we are talking about finances, within the framework of doubling income in three months. Compare the increase in income from 75,000 to 150,0000 rubles per month. The rate of a quality coach at the moment is 5,000 -15,000 per session. And even if it took 4-6 sessions. The client recoups the investment in a month.
It is impossible to express in numbers other results from the work of a coach and a client - building, improving relationships, changes in appearance, social circle, finding your calling, self-realization ...
If we are talking about investing in coaching training, all of the above is true. HR, managers of any level, people involved in work in one way or another and, especially, in managing people - get a great tool. Coaching is an effective tool in raising children.
A few words about how to use the "magic wand" - coaching. The format of a coaching session resembles a consultation. A coach is a master of questions, an expert in listening. Beginning coaches struggle with the temptation to suggest answers. An experienced coach is angelically patient. People are different, everyone has their own path, including to achievements. The coach's task is to lead the client not along his own path, but along the client's own path.
It is impossible to understand a system while inside it. A quality coach creates a reality when you can look at yourself from the outside, turn in all directions, examine details, look "under a microscope" at a separate element and again fly beyond the system for a general overview.
Already at the request stage or during a coaching session, it may turn out that it is necessary to consider a larger system than the client's personality. This can be a family, a company, society as such. The above procedure is relevant for this case as well. In the case of working with top management of companies, founders, questions about which system to work with do not even arise, most often. The life of such a scale of personalities is almost completely integrated into large systems.
I will separately touch on coaching teams. A coach works with the team's goal, the system's goal (company, for example). A good coach is a great leader, has honed skills as a moderator, mediator, conflictologist. The coach's task is to create conditions under which each team member will reveal their potential and contribute to the overall result, and the team itself, as a single organism, will achieve the highest possible result.

More details about the methods and effects are below in the document.

A few words about coaching. Designed as one of the best business tools, coaching was initially used in sports in the late 70s of the last century to maximize the achievements of athletes and teams. Coaching is the interaction of the Coach and the Client (coach), within the framework of consulting sessions, in which, using coaching tools, the coach helps to reveal the client's potential.

Below is the description of the confirmed impact of coaching on employee performance and the description of the range of issues addressed in coaching sessions.

Mission level

In the session, the client learns and discovers for himself:
  • His role in the company;
  • The effect of his work activities within the company, the market;
  • Personal goals within the company's goals.

Result for the company - the employee receives additional motivation to show maximum efficiency, understanding why he/she does it, integrates his/her goals into the Company's goals.

Personality level

Changes in the client:
  • Changes in self-image (transformations are striking, from absolute indecision and uncertainty to a self-confident person)

Result for the company - can be compared to chip tuning of a car engine - the power increases. The employee immediately after the session believes that he/she can do more and better.

Level of values and beliefs

Changes:
  • The employee reveals his/her true values;
  • Gets rid of interfering beliefs such as:
I am not worthy of this;
I am not capable of this;
This is impossible;
I cannot do this without him/her/anything else;
  • Receives useful beliefs.

Result for the company - the employee now takes responsibility for his/her actions, the results of his/her activities. He/she is more proactive, no longer expecting solutions to situations from the outside.

Level of knowledge, abilities and skills

Changes for the client:
  • A conscious, realistic understanding of one's own strengths and weaknesses;
  • A plan of action for using strengths and "pulling" weaknesses to the required level.

Result for the company - the employee reveals his talents and skills, works on his weaknesses.

Behavior level

Changes for the client:
  • Understanding how his activities affect his own successes, the company's results, development;
  • He will see the necessary changes in his lifestyle, actions, and will begin to change.

Result for the company - positive changes in the employee's daily work activities.

Above, we have given some points from business coaching. And at the same time, very often personal problems (relationships, appearance, etc.) can interfere with professional activity. The coach effectively solves these problems as well.

A coaching session is completely confidential, neither HR, nor the company director, no one else will ever know the details of the session from the coach. And at the same time, the coach works for the benefit of the company already because he considers interaction with the employee within the framework of the success of the Company’s activities.
